A bikini-clad Audrina Patridge poses on a sun-streamed beach for FHM UK April 2010. The doe-eyed brunette is the face of the British men’s mag’s Girls Of U.S. TV Special Edition, and editors used the opportunity to chat with Audrina about her start in reality TV.

“I was sunbathing with my friend and this guy came over,” she explains. “We’ve had guys coming up to us and asking for our numbers so we just assumed he was one of those, but it was The Hills creator Adam DiVello and he started talking to us and said I had a great look and would I be interested in being in his show. When he mentioned it was reality TV, I was like, ‘No thank you, I’m not headed in that direction,’ but then he said it was more of a soap documentary and I thought, ‘Well, it would be a good experience and get me used to being in front of the camera, so why not?’ Five years later I’m still doing it.”

For the first time in over seven years, the venerable Lotus Elise benefits from a substantial facelift. And if you’re noticing a few cues cribbed from the Evora, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you.

However, the new front fascia isn’t just there to lend some familial ties to its 2+2 sibling – since this is Lotus, it’s all about efficiency. Thanks to the smoother, lower nose, restyled headlamps (now with daytime running lights), larger grille and side ducting, new engine cover and reworked rump, the 2011 Elise’s coefficient of drag has been reduced by four percent.

The Toyota-sourced 1.8-liter remains amidships, putting out 192 hp in naturally aspirated guise and 217 hp when equipped with a supercharger, and for the first time Lotus is offering a new 1.6-liter engine (again, from Toyota) with 134 hp (at 6,800 rpm) and 118 pound-feet of torque (at 4,400 rpm), which should result in a 0-60 time of around six seconds. A six-speed manual remains standard on all models, and two new lightweight forged wheels are available as an option, along with cruise control.

Expect the 2011 Lotus Elise to arrive in dealers across the pond this April , with sales in the U.S. beginning later this year.

Two giant digital origami tigers will playfully celebrate Chinese New Year on the forecourt of Customs House, Sydney from 11 February – 14 March 2010. Giant digital origami tigers fuse ancient lantern making methods with cutting edge design and fabrication technology, bringing tradition and innovation, east and west together.

Commissioned by Customs House to raise awareness about the endangered status of tigers in this the Year of the Tiger, the crouching tigers were designed by multinational architectural practice LAVA.
The crouching tigers are inspired by “zhezhi”, Chinese for paper folding (more popularly known by its Japanese name “origami”) and are the size of a truck at 2.5 metres high and 7 metres long, yet weigh only 200kgs. Made of fully recyclable materials, aluminium and barrisol, the big cats are brought to life with low energy LED lighting.
