Conspiracy theorists and Mac rumor-mongerers, start your engines. According to an internal O2 memo we’ve received, stock of both the 8GB iPod touch and iPhone have run their courses, and have been EOL’d (at least in the UK). The brief letter sent out yesterday evening states that, “Due to the highly successful sales of the Apple 8GB I-Phone [sic], supply chain have today run out of stock & will not be replenishing stock of this product as it has now gone to end of life.” Whether this is due to the recent price cuts, the rumored upcoming 2nd generation iPhone, or just a sign that Apple is moving towards higher capacity devices is anyone’s guess. All we know is that soon the 8GB iPhone — at least in the UK — will become as rare and precious as the Pygmy Three-toed Sloth.

Not unlike the early colorized versions of the original Zune before it, the red Zune 80 looks like it should finally be ready to make its un-tattooed retail sales debut . If you’ve been considering getting loud and/or proud with your next Zune, call ahead to your local gadget stock keeper and see if they’re in.

Love the brown, aqua and orange color combo on the latest addition to the Chris Law (Crooked Tongues) Adidas line.

MSI just got right with the gadget lorf by going official with its Wind Notebook. Launched anonymously at Intel’s IDF, the Wind is pretty much everything we’ve heard: about 1-kg weight; XP-only (at the moment); LED-backlit, 8.9- and 10-inch 1,024 x 600 displays; and traditional 80GB, 2.5-inch hard disk. MSI also claims to have a superior keyboard and battery life compared to the competition. Yup, they’re looking right at you Eee PC. No word on price or delivery date though we previously heard Juneish (with Atom CPU launch) for between $470 to $1,099.

If you’ve somehow managed to hold off from buying an iPod sound system, you can probably afford to gloss right over this one, too. Still, those waiting for one with just a touch more extravagance will likely find lots to love about Goodmans’ latest iteration. Aside from boasting a pair of speakers, 3-in-1 multicard reader, LED accents, iPod dock and a bundled remote, this unit also includes an integrated 7-inch LCD display for showing off stored clips, photos, etc. Interestingly, we’re left to wonder what the exact resolution here is, but if it’s not impressive enough to share, you can probably look forward to lackluster results. We won’t stop you from taking a chance though — it’s your £89.99 ($178).

for Europe. As such, she comes packing UMTS/HSDPA 850/1900/2100 and quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE radios. While it comes loaded with Google Maps for Mobile and aGPS navigation, you won’t get much use from it on that itty bitty 128 x 160 pixel display of unknown dimensions. Hell, that bezel chews up an equivalent amount of real estate. The G502 candybar also features Maps but lacks aGPS. No worries for US Americans though as it’s likely to stay put in Europe with UMTS/HSDPA 2100 and GSM/GPRS/EDGE 900/1800/1900 radios. Both will feature M2 memory expansion, Bluetooth, and 2 megapixel cameras when they launch in “selected markets” come Q2. Sorry Sony Ericsson, but we’re not seeing a lot here to distract investors (or consumers) for very long. In a move meant to, uh, distract investors from its announced 48% profit downturn (compared to Q1 of the previous year), Sony Ericsson just announced a pair of mid-range handsets. The Z780 clamshell — now official — is the global sister to the announced Z770Xperia X1 please?

This weekend Tami and I embarked to the San Francisco Galleria to cover Thread Show. For those that haven’t heard of Threadshow SF, it’s an event that showcases emerging independent fashion designers.

After last year’s fiasco of the Thread Show staff not being able to find our press credentials, we made sure to register early on their site to avoid any problems at the door. Unfortunately, it was a case of deja vu. The nice lady that greeted us said that their was no Terry, Tami or Kineda on the press list and that entrance would be $10 for the each of us. I then mentioned that I spoke with Alex Matthews (Director of Operations) over e-mail as well as registering on the site. Lucky for us, Alex was sitting right to her! Or maybe not so lucky.

Unfortunately, Alex had no recollection of our e-mail conversations or registration. He told us it’s probably because of the thousands of e-mails he receives and that many people like to fake their way into the show. Why anyone would want to fake their way into a $10 show is beyond me. After asking for our business cards, and showing him our Kineda credentials, we were let into the show.
I don’t want the bad handling of press registration to reflect on the entire show, because the designers and boutique shop owners that attend this event are fantastic. However, after having a sour entrance for the second time, I can’t say we’ll be covering this show again in the future.

Selling clothing via vending machines is really taking off. Uniqlo started this idea a few years ago, and now brands like Onitsuka Tiger are jumping on the trend.

It’s first sneaker vending machine opened this week near Carnaby Street in London. The machine carries up to 24 pairs of Onitsuka Tigers in 6 different shoe sizes (UK 5,6,7,8,9 and 10).

If you plan on buying a pair, be sure you know your shoe size, because you can’t try before you buy and there’s no refunds!
