Beginning January 28, fans across the world can tune into the first webisode of this viral comedy series about seven of the most beautiful, fun, sexy, savvy, witty handbag executives in the fashion industry. Each of the scripted webisodes, running two to three minutes, takes a comic look at the “Love, JD” girls and the interpersonal struggles that go along with running their successful handbag company. Along the way, the girls find time to weigh in on any number of women’s issues, while also finding strength in each other as they navigate their way through the ever-brutal dating world in the City of Angels. At its core, the show is unbridled “girl talk,” but with an edge.
While most web-based shows only release a handful of webisodes, the “Love, JD” team has already completed 80, with plans to release a total of 240 during the course of the year. In addition to hosting the daily webisodes, www.lovejd.tv is a one-stop shop for all things that deal with fashion, beauty and lifestyle. The “Love, JD” series will spawn the April release of a new handbag collection, branded under the same name and utilizing the show’s signature, young contemporary look. Average retail price points for the line will range from about $125-200.
“These girls have the ability to blow the lid off of issues that many women are reticent to discuss,” says executive producer Dennis Brown. “We want the “Love, JD” girls to become a voice that the viewer can depend on and tune into every day. It’s that special bond between women that we’re aiming to characterize.”
Fans all over the world will have no choice but to fall in love with the personalities of the “Love, JD” girls. There’s JD, the maternal ex-model turned CEO of the handbag company; Aspen, the off-the-turnip-truck receptionist who isn’t nearly as innocent as she looks; Dylan, the aristocratic know-it-all financier with an endless supply of life theories; Barcelona, a South American bisexual bombshell photographer; Mai, the 19-year-old immigrant and prodigal head designer who is lacking in life experiences; Romeo, the fiery, ultra-connected publicist with a knack for pulling in favors; and Pia, the uptight operations manager who is always trying to fit in. As the series progresses, viewers will also come to realize that the “Love, JD” girls are harboring a big secret, one that will add yet another layer of comedy and intrigue to the characters and the situations at hand.
